Trak
Kayaks® are now available in Australia. The world’s first shape shifting
kayak, which zips up into a wheeled bag the size of average set of golf
clubs, weighs the same as a standard lightweight sea kayak, and performs like
a hard shell boat.
The
essence of the Trak is it’s portability, combined
with a design that doesn’t limit the paddler to plodding along in a big
hauling, low performance kayak. The mind blowing design aspect is the ability
to change the rocker of the boat according to purpose – if you’re looking
punch out some miles & could do with a bit more waterline length &
speed, let the frame out. If you want to play in some moving water, manouver
in tight spaces, or generally have a bit more fun in the boat, crank the
rocker back to change to a more traditional highly rockered
design. We have stock on the shelf of this exciting
new boat, avaialble in yellow or dark khaki, for
the new price of $3990.
The innovations that set Trak
apart from any other folding kayak in the market are below: |

|
Tri-active Performance System™ (TPS)
TPS enables optimum performance in any condition TRAK TPS
is comprised of three self-contained hydraulic jacks, located in the cockpit.
By pulling the handling, the TPS micro-adjusts the shape of the hull to
optimize it for changing wind and water conditions. A quick release valve on
each jack releases the tension, returning the kayak to initial position. All parts
are made from stainless steel and are corrosion resistant. |
Adjustable Thigh Braces
From aggressive control to nothing at all. Easy to
remove hardware allows each paddler to adjust the position of the braces
along the underside of the coaming, or removed entirely. For a
comfortable fit the braces are padded. There are 32 unique positions in all. |
VariTRIM Lateral Adjustment™
Micro-adjust the gunwales to maintain tracking
without a rudder. On the
interior left and right sides of cockpit are two hydraulic levers that enable
the paddler to steer the kayak without a rudder or skeg. The entire
length of the kayak arcs to provides lateral resistance to mitigate weathercocking, and eliminating paddling fatigue over
long distances. The result
is its ability to effortlessly neutralize cross winds. |
TEN-&-IN Portability™
7 steps, 8 pieces, 10 minutes, no joke. The entire
TRAK kayak can be transported in a stylish OGIO® pack in ten minutes or less.
Airport friendly, apartment-compatible and fits in most car boots. It is
incredibly easy and intuitive to assemble having only 8 pieces. Quickstart photo guide and DVD are included. Pack size:
132 x 43 x 38 cm |

Keder Storage System™
Loading and unloading is easier than ever. Our Keder Storage System is an aluminum extrusion sliding on
a track that provides quick and easy access to your gear, without the hassle
of leaky, failing hatches. When opened it provides complete access to the
ample storage cavity inside the stern. When closed it provides a fail-safe
water tight seal. The Keder system has a stop on it to ensure it locks into the
coaming. With the flat
rib profile of the TRAK, gear bags can easily be loaded in the bow from the
cockpit.
|
Command Seat
Designed with comfort in mind.
The TRAK seat
is locked into the frame and coaming to provide all the stability and control
a performance kayak seat should offer. The Command Seat has a padded cushion
and an adjustable back rest.
|
VariTRAK Adjustable Rocker™
Micro-adjust the curvature of the hull for different
paddling conditions. A single
hydraulic lever in front of the seat can dramatically increase the upward
curvature of the hull along the entire keel line. The result is that TRAK can
change shape in seconds from fast tracking to easy maneuverability and
everything in between. With a long water line (no curvature in the hull), the
kayak will go straight and fast (track efficiently). With a
shorter water line (or extreme curvature in the hull) the kayak is
exceptionally easy to maneuver and will be more responsive and playful. Changing the
shape of the kayak is effortlessly done on the water, right from the cockpit.
|
DuraTRAK™ Aerospace Frame
Exceptionally lightweight and strong. The DuraTRAK frame is constructed from aerospace-grade
anodized aluminum for strength, lightness and rigidity. The entire
frame is anodized to protect against corrosion and wear. All tubing
is connected with shock-cording, and the ribs and bow/stern plates in each
section are attached so there are no loose pieces. The flat
profile ribs, ultra-strong coaming and other parts are made from extremely
durable urethane.

Sea Guide Chris James test paddling the TRAK T-1600 folding kayak. Chris is an accomplished all round paddler, with an AC Sea Guide accreditation, a long history paddling surf ski's in adventure races as well as being one of the few Rapier 20 paddlers in the country, We figured he'd be a good guy to put into the T-1600 for a test paddle on a lumpy July sea offshore from Sydney Heads. Consider that the boat in the pictures is a folder which fits into a bag the size of a standard golf travel bag, and you can see why we're very excited about the potential of this design. |
