Introducing
– Tahe Marine Kayaks
If there is one kayak manufacturer who seems to have
captured the imagination of sea kayakers around the world, it's the clever
& innovative Tahe Marine from northern Europe. Their Greenland design in
particular seems to have had a major hand in re-igniting the interest in
Greenland paddling & rolling, with its clean low-volume lines & sexy
black finish. The Tahe plant is a brand new, cutting edge kayak building
facility, and they are producing boats of a quality & finish unrivalled
among European manufacturers. Of course, build quality is only part of the
story if the hull doesn’t perform, and we have chosen three unique designs
from the Tahe range, each available in a high & low volume version, which
fill substantial gaps in the market here in Australia. |

Greenland &
Greenland T
The most genuine Greenland style kayaks on the market,
combining the ancient lines of these traditional hunting boats with a
contemporary take on design & aesthetics. Quite simply, these boats are
jaw-droppers…. The Greenland is a direct descendent of the traditional canoe
inspired kayaks of Greenland, ancient boats that reached Central Europe as
early as the 17th century. This modern reincarnation uses the same classic
low volume hull with a V-shaped bottom. Although this requires a level of
proficiency, at the same time it delivers unmatched speed and performance on
both calm and dynamic water. The Greenland’s cockpit foot space was carefully
engineered, keeping in mind the characteristics and needs of the human body
on long journeys. A paddle of any distance in this tradition-inspired kayak
will unveil the charms & unique qualities of these boats – speed,
lightness and one very relaxed paddler. An amazing boat to roll, play in or
cruise. The Greenland T is the upsized model for bigger paddlers, or for
extended touring.

Zegul 550 & Zegul 530 The
Zegul is a super fast and versatile touring kayak. Designed by Johan Wirsén, the creator of the Point65 XP, this boat shares
some of the excellent features that made the XP a fast, high performance
design, but with added sea attributes like a fuller bow (to prevent pearling
in following seas) & a shallower keel line (to give a less twitchy
initial stability). It has some very good reviews overseas commenting on the
speed downwind, stability in genuinely big water, and the great handling of
the Swede form hull. The Zegul is available in an expedition size (Zegul 550)
& a low volume (Zegul 530). The stern deck is significantly lower than
the bow deck, and the hull features well-defined chines,
that make the Zegul stable on a sea and effortless to turn without a rudder.
The high quality standard construction is with a vacuum infused carbon-kevlar
lay-up with hybrid inner layer in the hull, also with an extra reinforced
keel & seams, and a GRP deck. Hull and deck are joined with robust Kevlar tape. Click HERE to read a review of the Zegul 550. The Zegul is equipped
with the best components on the market and this together with the high quality
construction makes it a pure premium kayak.
