High performance sea kayaks for the truly discerning kayaker. They are tough, beautiful, high performance sea kayaks, meant to take all you've got!  These boats are paddled throughout the world by some of the most experienced & skilful expeditioners, and truly perform better as the conditions worsen. Featured prominently in recent cutting-edge DVD’s such as This is the Sea & Pacific Horizons, the Explorer kayaks from Nigel Dennis are acknowledged as the modern incarnation of a durable, performance, expedition sea kayak.

NDK Explorer

The Explorer was designed as SKUK's main expedition kayak and has a large carrying capacity. In 2000 it was used on a one-month expedition to Antarctica carrying all supplies with no support, & in 2005 a group of paddlers in Explorers completed the second circumnavigation of the hostile Sub Antarctic Island, South Georgia. Ideal for the medium to large kayaker. The Romany Explorer was designed in 1993 with the following features allow rear deck for easy rolling, a white water cockpit, giving the kayaker excellent grip, control and allows a quick exit if needed, 3 compartments, including an offset day hatch, allowing the kayaker to reach into the compartment whilst at sea, a sloping rear bulkhead behind the seat, allowing the kayak to be emptied by lifting the bow (no X rescue necessary), a polished deck recesses, plenty of room for large feet or warm winter footwear, exceptional manoeuvrability, with direction stability& terrific speed in following seas. The Explorer features large round hatches, a low profile design that produces minimum weather cocking in strong winds.

The Explorer H.V has been designed to facilitate more leg room for the kayaker, by increasing the volume in the cockpit area and modifying the deck mold in the area of the thigh grips (see image below).
