Features – Valley Sea Kayaks (Composite):

Retractable Skeg

A slider fitted near the cockpit, operates a retractable skeg to ensure the kayak can be easily trimmed to suit all conditions.

Glass Reinforced Seam

Outside seams have a hardwearing Diolen tape application.

Welded Contoured Bulkhead

Our contoured bulkhead comes as a standard feature. The curved form allows for flexion of the hull, particularly when stress is concentrated on a spot when running aground.

Ergonomic Seat System

Our seat system includes an ergonomically contoured seat pan, three dimensional adjustable backband and padded customisable hip shims.

Keyhole Cockpit & Thigh Braces

The modern standard for cockpit size, allowing easy escape or lifting of the knees whilst incorporating well placed thigh grips for great contact with the boat.

Colour Options

We keep these colours in stock at all times. Available for decks, hulls & outside seams. Our full stock colourways are on the Kayak Price page.

Triple-layer Polyethylene

High density polyethylene moulded in a three stage process to create a superior triple-layer laminate construction. Benefits include reduced weight, greater stiffness and abrasion resistance.

Welded Contoured Bulkhead

Our contoured bulkhead comes as a standard feature. The curved form allows for flexion of the hull, particularly when stress is concentrated on a spot when running aground. Welded in place for the best possible construction.

Ergonomic Seat System

Our seat system includes an ergonomically contoured seat pan, three dimensional adjustable backband and padded customisable hip shims.

Moulded-in Deck Fittings

Corrosion free brass lugs are moulded into the deck, producing a hole free deck rigging system, more reliable and drier!

Features – Impex Kayaks

Impex kayaks are made to the highest possible standards. The features which set up aside from the rest of the market are outlined below:

Points of Contact

Multiple points of contact within the cockpit are important for a better fit. Starting with your feet we have standard Werner footrests for a stronger brace point for pushing off in edging, rolling & bracing. We use a slightly larger cockpit for easier entry & comfort, however our built in padded thigh braces offer a stable base for the thighs. We’ve added a matching seat pad for our ever-popular On-Demand adjustable backband. Both made of textured neoprene, not only are they flashy, but effective in the performance end of kayaking. The texture allows for a non-skid surface in the cockpit, & the neoprene keeps the contact points warm. The backband is adjustable, while in the kayaks with ratchets to allow for a tighter or looser fit on demand. High enough to give support yet low profile enough to allow rolling, bracing, & vertical paddle finesse strokes.

Composite Seams

Boats built with the highest quality in mind are what we specialise in - by seaming our kayaks with fibreglass we obtain a mechanical bond between the hull & deck to assure strength & durability. To make it the strongest area of the kayak, we use an outside seam as well as an inside seam. This is then finished off with a fibreglass seam tape on the exterior which is hand painted.

Composite Bulkheads

An Impex kayak is an investment, & we want you to get the most out of your investment. Like our seams, the bond formed when you glass bulkheads into a kayak is superior to any other method. To ensure no chance of deformation of the hull, even under the heaviest stress, we use concave bulkheads. These in turn will flex to stop them from pressing into the hull of the kayak when under extreme pressure. the combination of fibreglass bulkheads & seams gives Impex Kayaks the driest, strongest construction on the market, to ensure a long, happy relationship between you & your boat!

Grab Loops

Attention to a customer’s specific needs is something we are very conscious of. Our comfort grip grab loop has been very popular for the comfort it offers in lifting your boat to & from the water. Along with the ‘clutch’, a retractable rescue handle for a safer means of effecting surf rescues, we have a great one-two punch for performance & practicality.

Skegs

Our time-tested skeg system has proved to be a fail-proof for paddlers from novice to expert. A stainless steel cable enclosed in a housing allows for smooth operation even as time wears on. At both ends of the system we have overlooked no detail, from the slider handle to the nylon skeg itself. Work hard to build your skills, but rest assured that in the worst conditions, your skeg system will keep you on a straight heading.

Reflective Deck Lines

This addition takes into mind not only the expedition paddler thinking ahead, in the event of a late night crossing, to the weekend paddler looking to squeeze a few more daylight hours out of a leisurely day trip. Our double-weave deck line offers over 60% more light reflection, especially effective at dusk. Heavy gauge cord ensures your hands won’t be susceptible to the wear & tear of a thin deckline.

VCP Storage Hatches

The industry leader Valley canoe Hatches are standard on our kayaks, offering maximum dryness & strength against the elements. Proven through years of performance in the most testing conditions, they have shown to be the easiest hatch to take on & off while remaining dry. Using the larger oval size, we have tried to give the expeditioner the simplest means by which to store larger dry-bags. With good care, these hatches will last the lifetime of your boat.
